i have been a vegetarian for about 35 years, 21 of that vegan. From childhood I have been interested in perennial wisdom and seeking out whatever truth i could find in this experience we call life. When I was a kid I learned about the existence of cool and inspirational quotes. My favorite one when I was 10: "In the race to be better or best, miss not the joy of being." That search has led me to some great, inner experiences and helped me to find my way in the world of people. I've lived a lot of life and have grown strong, wise and confident.
I like to live as naturally as I can. I am into organic gardening, permaculture, music, hiking, camping/backpacking, wild edibles/medicinals, thriving out of doors and eating delicious food often. I have been 100 percent raw a few times in my life and try to maitain a high raw diet the best I can, given where I live. It's definitely harder to maintain in the winter, mainly due to the limited variety of fresh food available.
I am almost always up for an adventure but can also be very laid back and people who know me probably think of me as a very unconventional & outside-of the-box thinker. Though I am conventional in some ways, subscibing to ideals of civility, loyalty, monogamy and caring about my fellow human beings, my views on why we are here and why the world is in such a state are probably somewhat unconventional (as I am certain is true for many on this site). I have also largely stayed away from mainstream media for many decades ( I stopped watching tv at the age of 13) and admit I am still sometimes surprised by it's content (or lack thereof, lol) and at the conditioned responses of people.
I used to read quite a bit when I had time, and sometimes still do, almost always non-fiction. I enjoy books that will help me learn how to do something (such as organic gardening & permaculture) or give me more of an idea of why the world is the way it is. I used to read many books on religion, philosophy and spirituality. When I became a vegetarian I also began researching plant-based nutrition, After about 20 years I started reading books on what some might call conspiracy theory, though these were well-backed explanations with regard to what the heck is going on in the world, dealing with various subjects by very credible researchers. Some years later I started studying organic gardening, permaculture, willd plant harvesting and survival skills. During all of my research I have heartily put all kinds of information into practice, experimenting and taking the useful, leaving the extraneous and always checking it against my inner sense of truth.
I love music and played professionally for many years, but really just enjoy playing for the fun of it, especially with others. It doesn't really matter to me whether someone can play well or not. Almost everyone can learn enough to play for enjoyment and it beats sitting around watching or interacting with a box all the time.
I am still learning a lot about plants and living in the natural world. How much better it would be to share those experiences with someone!
No way to say it all in a post, but I am looking for a true companion, someone to traverse the natural world as well as the inner world with, someone to laugh hysterically with and have soul conversations with, to snuggle with, dream with, to love. Thanks for checking out my post!
