Sometimes I think I should have grown up in the 60’s.  I guess that’s because I have the soul of a hippie.  I am not down with harry armpits, free love and psychedelics but I cannot help but be drawn to the nomadic, simplistic, peaceful, alternative, communal, loving, sustainable lifestyle that was hippie culture. 

I consider myself to be sweet, kind, fun, patient, smart, grounded, free, shy, and independent.  I do enjoy girling it up on occasion but mostly I prefer a more natural appearance. I am very sensitive to pain and suffering and I care deeply for mother earth and all her earthlings.  Music generally consumes me and I am often dancing or singing at random times throughout the day although I do not claim to be good at either. I see myself as a perpetual student. I am pursing a degree but I also really enjoy taking additional classes and or self-learning new things. I dabble in playing guitar, singing, dancing, yoga, Permaculture and speaking French.  With the hope that one day I will be good at any one of those things, but mostly I am just enamored with them. 

You should also know that consumerism and the American dream are not for me.  Once upon a time I thought they were but now I find myself entrenched in a life I can no longer relate to.  I am ready to stop trying to fit into someone else’s paradigm and define my own.  Someone interested in me should probably be comfortable with the idea of relocating to a Permaculture homestead in the tropics (or other place with warm climate), as that is where I see myself heading.

I have had a vegan diet for the last 23 years.

I am obsessed with classic cars, mostly from the 1950s. Because I am visually impaired and legally blind, I can never take one for a drive down the highway, but I can see well enough to appreciate their fine curves and chrome.

I go out for a lot of live music- rockabilly, Irish, country, hip hop, snotty punk rock to the dreaded stoner rock, included. I am an aspiring singer myself, of Irish ballads. I went to Ireland for the first time last November and took to the stage there. What an honor!

I am a 37-year old Indian vegetarian who works in the silly technology industry. I enjoy playing chess, pool, trivia games, and am a voracious reader. I like a lot of "outdoorsy" stuff and like playing basketball, racquetball, volleyball and tennis, though I am quite inept at all three. I also run a great deal. What else is there to say in one of these things that's not trite or contrived? Oh...the reason for even being on this site! I grew up in vegetarian household, though I did eat meat up until almost five years ago when I read a book called The Ethics of What We Eat: Why Our Food Choices Matter by the utilitarian professor Peter Singer (who wrote Animal Liberation back in the mid 1970s) that changed my perspective. Now, 30 pounds lighter and much healthier, I can't even imagine going back to omnivorism.

I am a vegetarian and a pre-veterinary student. Animals are very near and dear to my heart. I believe that they should be treated with respect. However, I do not 100% agree with the "over-the-top-ness" of animal rights activists. My desire to protect animals stems from what I believe to be God's wish for us to care for those that are weaker than ourselves. This being said, I am also a strong conservative and pro-lifer. Those who are hurt and in need of a friend are constantly in my thoughts and prayers. I hope to do some missionary work through Christian Veterinary Missions when I graduate from vet school.
