I am a Registered Nurse currently living in Western Mass, but relocating in July 2012 to VT for the type of job I've been wanting since coming to New England a year ago (Psychiatric Nurse--Even if I can't completely heal the wounds in a broken heart, I still want to hug all the people with sadness and darkness inside them; if only to bring them a little light). Future plans: considering grad school to get my Doctorate in Nursing Practice and be a Family Nurse Practitioner. Hoping to integrate natural/traditional therapies in there like healing touch, herbalism and even a dash of midwifery.

I'm a nurse in the Army Reserves which confuses people considerably (being vegan and all)...but which amuses me because I like to surprise people when I don't fit into a stereotype :)

I grew up in Spain and Japan which is a big part of who I am. I do speak some Japanese (and still learning but it never seems like there's enough time!!). I love Japanese music especially (modern as well as traditional). I read books in Japanese for fun and to continue improving in the language. I read books in English too, mostly non-fiction these days. I have also been writing a three-volume novel for the last 13 years or so. I also just started rock climbing which I adore, only I recently broke a bone in my foot while bouldering so I can't climb again til about Sep '12...but I do plan on getting back out there and getting better. There is not much that holds me back--especially when it comes to doing the things I love!

I'm a newer veg. Been vegetarian since Nov 2010 and Vegan since Jan 2011. And I used to be one of those annoying carnivores who sneered at vegetarians and called them crazy, anemic, etc. You are seeing a true conversion success story for the veg movement here :)

Also, someone who might not know what they want in a relationship, but is willing to go the long haul to see how it pans out. Someone who is open-minded and inquisitive. I'm in transition from academics to farming.  I plan to live in rural VT (b/c of climate change), practicing permaculture (and maybe also legal aid), and doing civic things such as supporting the local food movement. ... I've been veg since '95, vegan since '07, and I plan on being more raw-vegan. My motivations evolved from taste and health to environmental to animal welfare to the metaphysical. I have many interests: rock climbing, long-distance trail running, reading (mostly non-fiction, political or practical), meditation, cooking, and the arts. I'm both laid back and very active.

Seeking:

I’m looking for someone who’s vegan or aspiring. I’m looking for someone interested in the farming thing and a “voluntary simplicity” lifestyle, or who's at least amused by it. . . . Someone who’s outgoing, positive, compassionate, likes challenges, and has a fun sense of humor.  Also, someone who is progressive/left.

Seeking: It would be great to hear from and meet other vegetarians that are in New England or farther afield in the US or in another country.

  I am vegetarian (since age 17), non-smoking and I drink only red wine.  Being a father is the most meaningful experience I have ever known and the one I have been focused on for many years now. I raised my two sons as a single parent through high school and now my daughter. My sons are both finishing college in Boston and are 21 and 23 years old. My 16 year old daughter is in high school and is returning with me to Vermont in June, 2012.  I have very much remained alone, however, (in terms of no female intimate other) for nearly 11 years now.

  I am a nature worshipper in orientation. I love sacred dance circles, sweat lodges and gatherings. I have also been deeply influenced by Hinduism in my life. I have lived in many beautiful places such as Vermont, Hawaii, and the mountains of North Carolina (Asheville). I lived (and died) for 13 years near Washington DC and also struggled  being proximate to Seattle's 4 million souls. I will not live near a big city again, at least such is the plan.
   I am into camping, nature, water and mountains but not high-profile performance activities such as downhill skiing. I go into nature to commune. I love all folk music and favor music from 1965-1973. I have a tremendous record collection  I also like selective music from the last thirty years, some country, some folk, some Hawaiian, some indescribable. I am quite eclectic really, much more so then many who claim to be eclectic. I can listen to Dar Williams, the Dixie Chicks and to Goddess chanting and be inspired equally by all three. Recently, technology allowed me to digitize my records onto a portable MP3 player, joining my cassettes and CDs . This has been quite revolutionary and the fulfillment of a dream I had years ago. I now carry around my 1272 hits. I have written a virtual book on this subject documenting all.
   I am a very accepting person but an intimate partner must share the highly conscious lifestyle I have chosen and this is not so easy to find. I choose not to be in an environment with smoking, meat eating, or addictions to drugs/alcohol. I am not, however, offended by natural psychedelics and honor them as part of a spiritual path for some and at times, for me!. I envision a lot of sharing nature and transformative experiences together. I see intimacy as an expression of spiritual yearning and very sacred. I yearn for a partner open to Tantric experiences together. I am loving and affectionate and have a strong sense of humor.

You have embraced some aspects of an ‘alternative’ lifestyle. You see the shallowness of most mainstream thought and culture.. You adore nature. You love biking and hiking in nature for the enjoyment and communion with nature it affords, not simply for exercise. You love Mother Earth and a wholesome natural environment. You gain meaning from the passing of the seasons. You love animals (I am vegetarian because I love animals. Unfortunately, I am deathly allergic to cats. Seeking: I don't have a laundry list of qualities that I'm looking for in a person, but I think there are some key characteristics that are essential for maintaining a healthy relationship. I think Kindness is a great umbrella descriptor. Kindness toward strangers, toward himself and toward me. Kindness prevents a person from being too judgemental.
