I studied in archaeology, but decided it wasn't "human" enough and decided to do something to help more people and I now work in health services.

   Being here now you are probably already vegetarian or vegan and it is important for you. This is essential for me too and I believe deeper compatibility between people is way beyond, there are many reasons to become vegetarian, not necessarily related to compassion or spirituality.

  I became vegetarian in 1985, then vegan, now fruitarian from 12-2011 until next December when perhaps I will go back vegan or raw vegan. As for the reasons to have chosen this path, it was not a conscious deliberate decision, not for health reasons, that's for sure, nor really for deeply felt compassion for the animals, nor even for the environment, nor because I consciously suddenly realised that hey! look at that! We are a herbivore species! There was no thinking or pondering, I simply became vegetarian overnight by finally sEEing what meat really was: it is so overwhelming!

   All the above possible reasons were there at the time (but not enough for me to make the conversion it seems) and afterwards they came to support the validity of this choice. What I don't understand now is how I could have been a meat eater all those years... eating meat without any second thought. There must be some kind of disconnection switch in our human minds… one that can make us go against our true nature and still feel fine with it! This may sound like I was kind of 'forced' to become vegetarian, that compassion was not behind that decision, but I believe that compassion must have been there to make me see, yes, it was there all along, I have no doubt.

   Being observer and explorer (one leads to the other), I like to travel, learn from different cultures and be with nature in the present moment.  I enjoy activities like gardening, meditation, conversations, hiking, cycling, Tai Ji, Thai massage, good stories, music, writing (now writing and in Asia until June), etc... I'm a very easy going person and really open to all possibilities of life.

   I guess I would have opted for a happy easy life in a nice surrounding, interacting with friends and strangers, having fun and being creative in social activities, hobbies... if our Mother-Earth was not so ill and human ways so destructive! The Global call is strong and it makes a whole difference...  effective solutions for the Global situation are needed. Our infinite potential in a messed-up world governed by greed! This mix makes things incredibly complex and it can get confusing, however as long as we can create spaces of happiness, peace, and creative fun, the drive to make things better will remain, but damn, how are we gonna get out of this?

Seeking:

   I love animals, I even talk to insects, however I do not feel the need to be constantly surrounded by them, to own pets I mean, so I guess that if your life is centered around animals, whether as an activist or a living 'sanctuary', it may be better to find people with similar goals, mine has more to do with humans, as this is where the main problems lie (including those that befall animals).

   I wish to meet people who are now vegetarian or vegan for reasons beyond their personal health (no matter how it started), who have a sharp sense of humour and generally positive (negativity is bound to come around when our eyes are open but it shouldn’t last, life always having the potential to bring amazement, and true understanding of the "bigger picture" can put everything back to their natural scale).

   Compassion, Joy, Contemplation, Equity, Environment, Sacredness are words with meaning for you. You have the tendency to go out of your way to make meaningful differences for others (for other species too!) You are active and inclined (at least wishing) to get socially involved. You are independent yet feeling connected to the whole world with a sense of adventure and readiness to step out of comfort zones. I've been a vegan for 3+ years, more often incorporating raw food into the diet slowly.

I'm a bit of a scientist and environmentalist, I'm interested in what is happening on the planet, My passport is always up for some more stamping and stapling. I'm fully autonomous, no family or ex's nearby. Vaccinated, microchipped, ready for adoption. I'm a bicyclist, not a bi cyclist.
