About Me: I’m independent, adventurous, reliable, and caring. Low maintenance and easygoing, but I do like to plan. I am an early morning person. My zest for life means I don’t spend much time at home - there’s just too much to explore and experience. It’s not FOMO; I simply delight in embracing all that life offers, and I’m eager to find that special someone to share these moments with. Family is very important to me, and I enjoy spending time with mine. Interests: I enjoy exploring new places, whether it’s a hike at dawn or discovering hidden cafes. I typically travel abroad at least once a year - there is so much to see and experience in the world! I appreciate good conversation over a quiet dinner or a spontaneous road trip to somewhere new. Music festivals and cultural events are fun - I love immersing myself in different atmospheres and soaking up diverse experiences. Giving back is important to me, I also spend some time volunteering.

Living a principled life of meaning, purpose, simplicity, and growth is my goal.  Originally from New Jersey, I went to college (Pomona) and beyond in southern California but have spent most of my adult life in southern Arizona.  I find the Sonoran Desert to be magical, and I hike a lot, but you can see beauty in most places if your mind is open to it.  The beauty of any place, though, derives mainly from the people who populate it.  Character traits I value include "compassion and altruism, placidness, patience, and slowness to anger, and abundant loving-kindness and truthfulness" (Exodus 34:6), as well as reverence for all life.  The latter includes wearing a mask, to protect both others and myself, during the pandemic!  Practical examples of these traits include: being mindful of the needs of the disabled and the vulnerable (e.g., using larger font sizes!); avoiding ableist language; uplifting others; and giving people the benefit of the doubt.  I look for ways to help others, although, whatever I do, I try to avoid self-serving feelings like self-validation and pride.

With my scientific background, I'm mostly a left-brained person, but I try to exercise the right half as well, although I fall a little short of being a polymath.  I appreciate the contribution of art to life and especially the creativity behind it, although I like to view it not just for its aesthetic beauty but also as an extension of the person behind it.  I'm informed and guided in all aspects of living by Jewish ethical values and teachings, including that we can learn from everyone!  I've been vegan for 35 years.  I don't engage in social media, which I feel is harmful to society and unbecoming, and try hard not to let technology control my life.  I've striven to bring Jewish medicine and the values it represents to the world via the eponymous website.  In essence, it's a philosophy that regards medicine as a sacred vocation whose practitioners view their work as a calling, shunning any motivation that smacks of "what's in it for me?"  The goal is to make the world safe not for democracy but for medical ethical meritocracy and, thereby, for patients.  In that capacity, I also fill the urgent need for a source of evenhanded, authoritative information on vegetarian nutrition.

Finally, two parallel philosophical observations from two great traditions on how to gain the most satisfaction from your food:

"When the food inside ourselves is blessed by our having led an upright life, we feel satiated even after eating just a small amount" (Rashi, rabbinic scholar).

"When you have love, even water alone will be satiating, but, when you're lacking love, there is no food that will satiate you" (Chinese proverb [Youqíng yinshuibao, wúqíng shífànji]).

Headshot is from July, 2023.  Is that important?  Yes, being honest vis-à-vis others is important.

I am passionate, compassionate, sensitive, fun, caring, sarcastic, serious, lazy, stubborn, flexible, and all that comes with being human, haha.

I am an environmental sociologist and researcher in sustainability.

I am not the beer and football type, but you may see me at a protest--as a friend of mine says, "Protesting is good for your health!"

I consider myself an international intellectual. I like the outdoors, yoga, riding my bike, running, swimming, meditation, and those long deep conversations over tea.

I believe in love, magic, chemistry, etc. it shouldn’t be that hard. I have not found that mutual love that would seem to endure, but I still look for it.

I am outgoing, friendly and enjoy doing social things when with a partner. I find when I am single I tend to stay home more, which I also enjoy very much. Movies, hiking, good conversation and being outdoors are a few things I enjoy doing.  Most often I am found at home because my property has become a mini-sanctuary for several species of birds. Plus I share my home with rescued cats and am active in TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return).

Spending my time outside with my sanctuary residents is fantastic. Plus it is so beautiful here and the weather is great.
My serious side also involves maintaining my health.  I worked as a pharmacist, but I am more of an anti-pharmacist! Prevention and acquiring good habits are the keys to a vital life. I worked in hospitals and know that western medicine can play an important role as well.

I was raised in Brooklyn, NY, lived in NJ and now live in the southwest since 2004. Love the climate here, preferring sunny dry days to the cloudiness and humidity of the northeast.

If your desire is for a meaningful LTR with someone who is down to earth, emotionally and financially stable, who enjoys the outdoors, loves animals and nature, cares about the environment, and has traditional values, including chivalry, honesty, integrity and compassion, I may be an option worth consideration.  I’m honest to a fault, so I feel obligated to specify why I’m posting on this site to begin with. I was married for over 25 years, but I’m now widowed. I’m here because I believe life is much better when shared by two. I can say with absolute certainty that my past relationship has given me a deep understanding of the importance of mutual communication and considering the needs of others, especially those closest to us.

I have no children other than a furry special needs feline, who is of the mutual understanding that he owns the house and I am staff. I am financially secure with no debt and manage his home. I recently retired after over 20 years of public service in the valley, so I’m flexible with time. I’m admittedly somewhat of an anomaly. Although I worked in a position with significant public contact for many years, I would describe myself as an “introverted chameleon” and although that sounds like an exotic reptile that stands on its head, it just means I do not enjoy crowded settings, but can blend in practically anywhere.

I’ve been a vegetarian for close to 32 years and while I enjoy eating out on occasion (favorites are Mediterranean, Mexican and pizza), my preference is to prepare meals at home and doing so with someone special is more enjoyable.  I make an effort to maintain my health, exercising regularly, including hiking in a nearby mountain preserve.  I care about the environment and make an effort to reduce my carbon footprint, which includes minimizing waste, recycling, driving fuel efficient vehicles and limiting distant travel. I do enjoy day trips and exploring all the natural beauty that AZ has to offer, but due to several personal obligations, I cannot currently be out of town overnight.

If anything I have written resonates with you and you would like to know more, please understand I’m not a medium (other than my shirt size) and my crystal ball broke in my last move, therefore please send a message.  I look forward to hearing from you.  Best of luck to all in finding what you seek.

My female friends compliment my deep voice and my irreverent sense of humor. I'm intelligent, passionate when so inspired, playful, sentimental, communicative, unpretentious and friendly. My affinities for dance and music include contra, cajun, zydeco, waltz, swing, bluegrass and folk. I'm an activist for social justice and conservation, a self-employed consultant and a community college instructor. Large dogs are wonderful companions for me. Sadie and I enjoy the usual activities: going for walks, playing with tennis balls, greeting friends, taking naps, and being in the moment. We seldom squabble.

I lost my wife of 40 years about 2 years ago.  I want to have someone to share my life with, in a serious committed relationship.

I'm looking for someone local, in or near the Phoenix area.

I was, for many years, a software developer, now I create and release music.

I also do a fair amount of home cooking.

I greatly enjoy going to art galleries and museums.

I'm fully Covid vaxxed and boosted, but I still avoid being indoors without a mask.

I walk a few miles every day, and play pickleball once a week.

I have a good sense of humour, ocasionally goofy, but sometimes sparks of wit.

My taste in music is really eclectic. I love 80s music probably more than any other decade. I will also listen to classical, opera, folk, classic rock, and bluegrass.  Depends on my mood.

I can go weeks or months without any alcohol but enjoy a margarita with Mexican food or some good wine now and then!

** Update September 2014-  I am rarely on this site. Every once in a while I come back when I get email or a profile captures my attention. ** What in the world can I say in such a small space? It's nice to see so many kind-hearted individuals out here. Although it would be great to "meet" someone, I'm also up for just making new friends. In fact, if one of these days I ever get married (I've never been married before), I believe that my wife should be my best friend. Imagine that? More about me? Well, some say I look younger than my chronological years. I have a little too much education, enjoy computers, bicycling, tennis, golf, languages, life-long learning, and am constantly striving for self-improvement. . . I guess I should leave some stuff for when we write, right? :)

Reading is my favorite activity. More of a listener than a talker, unless it's a subject of great interest (music, politics).  I am easygoing and cheerful most of the time. I like traditional pop and light rock music (playing and singing), getting out into nature, and keeping fit. I exercise frequently; hiking and weight training mostly. My politics are mostly progressive. I also love cats, and live with one currently. MBTI: INTJ

OK a little bit about me...I live in Concho, Arizona a small town in the northeastern mountains of AZ. I'm 6ft 3in, 175 lbs, I don't smoke or drink, and I'm in good shape and health. I've been a RVer off and on for many years. I still live in my Class A Q30, but I'm also homesteading a 20 acre off grid heavily treed property with a small house, solar, septic, and a well I bought, and paid for about 2 years ago. I also live debt free. I'm mostly vegetarian, 100% organic foods and like growing organic food and fixing up this place. I've planted some raised gardens and over 30 fruit and nut trees. I've owned 3 business in my life, Sign painting for 10 years, DryCleaning and Laundry for 35 years, Small farm developer 8 years. I've been working on this Organic Homestead Paradise I'm at now, for about 2 years and love it here, and don't want to sell it. I'd love to find a thin fit nice looking lady that is tried of the rat race, but still wants to make money online with me, and help grow organic food and live a sustainable loving peaceful life. I also have a nice guest RV parking space for a non smoking, health minded, fragrance free person who would like to help me around this place and learn a few things about living off grid. I'm not looking to just live with someone... I'm looking for that lady I can't live without. If you think we could work out? Please send me a message saying why and give me your phone. Thanks for reading my profile. Update I just finsihed and moved into my super cool off grid house... I'm not a paid member right now, but if you wink, and hotlist me, I'll pay so we can connect.

What would be great is if I can meet someone that wants to video chat. We have this great thing at our disposal that allows people to get to know each other in the comfort of our home. A person can create a Facebook page just for video chatting and it can be called something that doesn't expose any personal information. You can call it "video" or "Chatter" or "Bumblebee"... whatever you want to call it... and it creates a safe way to get to know each other. When I've video chatted with friends, it's almost as good as being there. We get up and make food and we still can hear each other even when we're out of sight of the camera. It's great.

Those close to me would tell you that I am kind, passionate, smart, and caring. I believe in making a difference in this world and am an idealist at heart. I am drawn to folks who are non-conventional and challenge the staus quo. I have been a vegetarian since birth and became vegan over twenty years ago because of moral and ethical reasons. I am very lucky to be in a career that lets me tackle issues I am passionate about. Injustice of any kind bothers me - and drives me to work to make a positive difference. I am originally from California and that is where my parents and siblings currently live.

I love to hang out and chat with friends at cafes/restaurants/home, watch movies, go hiking or just stay at home and read a good book. Travel is something I cannot live without! I have been lucky enough to travel to many different countries and plan to continue doing so the rest of my life!

I have never been married and don’t have kids. I am proud of my Indian heritage and would want a partner who also respects India, its culture, etc.

Independent, partial to books (particularly literature but lately quite a bit of non fiction in an attempt to come to some understanding of the forces that are warping us), walkabouts, gardening, filming, drawing, swimming in the sea, news, independent and foreign films and music, travel, and, yes, yoga. I vote and sometimes work on campaigns. Every once in a while I eat a fish but I'm not proud of it. Raw food and organic veggies, green juice and other goody goody food makes me feel energetic. I am trying to put my house back together now that I've gotten down to a blank slate. Oh, enough about me; I hear an echo. What about you?

Hmmm...I'm a very creative person. At times an introvert at other times an extrovert. I love being in the moment and having fun. I can be spontaneous, jumping in the car with an idea and just take it from there or plan things alittle more thoroughly. I like the idea of homebase, to travel to and from. I'm a beach lover, and will be headed back to the sea soon. I love listening to music, going to see live music, dancing, making things, gardening, documentaries, volunteering, riding my bike, clothes, travel, alternative/sustainable housing, heathy living, herb, lots of things...all in a balance

I've been pretty free-spirited.  I haven't been married and now some people I know are getting divorced. I think when you're more mature, you're more grounded in who you are, and more likely to be content...just a theory...

I'm an active, free thinking, motivated, self employed creature who has a flexible schedule.

I'm originally from Michigan, but have spent the last 20 years of my life in Phoenix. I spent this last summer up in Prescott and the tress and fresh air were rejuvenating. Maybe it's time for a change?

I've been working towards a more sustainable lifestyle this past year and have really enjoyed taking the time to enjoy the simple things.

I don't watch TV. Although I do enjoy a good movie here and there.

I've been a vegetarian for most of my life, but decided to go vegan two years ago. I did end up adding eggs back into my diet, so I guess I'm veganish, but they're from my own happy chickens, who are awesome!

I have two dogs that I hike and trail run with. I log in lots of miles on my mountain bike and am quite passionate about riding. I also dirt bike and am a sucker for single track.

I don't like to stagnate in life. I like to learn and do new things.

I'm extremely loyal to someone who has earned my trust and would love to find my sweetie to enjoy all the wonderful things life has to offer together.

I got married really young and have been divorced for 13 years now. While I've been in a few relationships that have lasted two years or so. I haven't found the right match. I'm very happy with where I'm at in life, but it would be more enjoyable as a team. :)

I'm not sure what the next chapter in life has in store, but it's going to be a good one!

Maybe you can help me write it!

Also read extensively, do yoga, swim, love music ( mostly "old school" soul, R&B, and Motown, but also jazz, blues, reggae, some classical, and others such as George Harrison, John Lennon, Leonard Cohen, James Taylor, and Corrine Bailey Rae),and am a killer Scrabble player! Have 2 dogs. Active in animal rights and welfare. Love to cook- vegan of course, and enjoy Indian food most of all.( I love all things Indian- I spent my early childhood there.)I do not plan on staying in AZ for the rest of my days- just haven't decided where to move yet! Probably near water...

Artsy, loves to laugh and play, very loving with the right guy. Love animals. Very independent. I really miss being in the mountains, the fresh air, seeing wild animals, hiking, camping, skiing, just about all the outdoors has to offer-I want to be there. Spent most of the summer in CO, and a month this winter, it was great. Studied Naturpathy, so I'm into natural medicine, herbs, medicinal oils, flower essences... Spend the rest of my time with my kids and others. Been remodeling a house. Don't watch much TV, but do love a good movie. I've been a pre-school teacher, artist, mom, investor, work at a gym. Would love to have an earthship home or something natural and green friendly, green house, house with waterfalls, something fun, colorful would be really fantastic, especially with a loving family and pets.

Interested, and interesting. Currently working getting by with the day job and expanding experiences to many other things that matter more! I am up for most things - and after a day in the cube (think Office Space), I need to do something MEANINGFUL! I like to live and learn and talk about things that really matter. Major concerns are major and all environmentally-related. I hope soon to work in many areas to help improve circumstances of our planet - which I do at the moment in volunteer capacities. I'm a pretty easy going, open minded, positive person who likes to have fun. I live in Arizona but travel a bit in the US (usually in the southwest) for work and would love to meet up with other vegans/vegetarians when I do. I enjoy hiking, camping, reading, music, skiing, art, movies, road trips, crossword puzzles, cooking. I'm vegan because I don't want my life to depend on harming animals.

A wiser, kinder, healthier, Sheldon Cooper, but my research is in the fashionable field of gravity theory instead of his abandoned hadronic string theory. My family is not from East Texas but came out to California from the neighborhood. Dr. Cooper might look down on teaching but it is an honest living and makes the research that much more meaningful.
