I swim almost every day and teach tai chi from a martial arts perspective. Tai chi chuan is the opriginal martial art. I spend at least a couple hours each week reading at Barnes and Noble. I label myself an agnostic with a spiritual side. Politically, I'm a progressive, populist liberal with a few libertarian leanings and a pinch of anarchism.
Very into holistic health, as a "near vegetarian" I eat a small amount of wild-caught fish and eggs for health reasons (I was a strict vegan for 12 years but I couldn't keep weight on). I strive toward "whole foodism" avoiding processed items like sugar and flour, but I sometimes cheat in social situations.
I love soaking up the sun while hiking, cycling (I'm a bike commuter), running, or visiting hot springs. I'm in excellent health, and people think I'm at least 10 to sometimes 20 years younger than I am.
But, hey, let's talk about the really off-the-wall, controversial stuff. I'm polyamorous which means I practice ethical, open, compassionate, gender-equal non-monogamy. Wikipedia has a decent entry on polyamory. I list myself here as "single" since there isn't a "poly" choice.
So I can't promise exclusivity but do commit to fidelity, honesty, tenderness, integrity about agreements, and avoiding head games. I don't have an urgent need to always be involved in multiple relationships (although it does work nicely in situations with unmatched libidos, etc.), but any interested woman needs to be aware of my lifestyle.
My children are grown with families of their own, and I relate well to kids.

Well, here goes nothing! My name is Andrew and I recently relocated to the Salt Lake Valley from Las Vegas after being transferred for work...probably the best decision I've made in a while! Since being here, I have loved every second of it and the awesome people who call this place home. A little about me... I grew up on the east coast so I still have those "southern" morals and think that everybody should be treated with respect...especially those whom you've never interacted with. I work very hard and sometimes long hours but with great risk comes great reward...at least that's what I hope wil happen. However, after work and on the weekends I LIKE TO HAVE FUN! I love going out with friends, visiting new places or enjoying the mountains, and I'm kind of a nerd as well. I love learning about history or anything to teach me new things...including hours spent on the Netflix documentary section haha. I do have a car and my own place. I am a huge Utah Utes fan after going to the U for a short time for Pre Med. If it's football season, prepare to spend long Saturdays tailgating and enjoying the Utes! Finally, coming from Vegas, I would have never thought of loving the nightlife here in Salt Lake but I do. I love going downtown and enjoying a few drinks at some of the older and classier bars. Physically, I'm 6'0", average build, shaved head...now, and I have tattoos.
What am I looking for you may ask? Well to be honest, I'm not really sure. I would love to meet new people and make new friends to spend great times with. I am definitely open to a relationship if the chemistry is there but I am in no means aggressively seeking that...this is a no pressure zone. Ideally, I would like to meet a nice girl who enjoys some of the same things as I do, can go out and enjoy drinks but still hold a conversation, and who is just 100% genuine. It'a great to find this site because It can be difficult to find like-minded people. I have always been health conscious but didn't become a vegan until I met someone who practiced Chinese medicine. He taught me lifestyle is key to whether you will be healthy or plagued with disease. It has helped me understand spiritual things better too and a better respect for all life. I'm no longer biased about religion but encourage more of a unity consciousness. I think we put too many labels on things and think it's the truth. If we can go within ourselves instead of externalizing everything, that's where truth lies. I think that's the true message behind Christianity or Buddhism. I do like how religion teaches moral values. Also, I like to keep physically active, enjoy the outdoors and learning the truth about world events. I have a serious side but have an appreciation for good humor too. It's important to find the right balance in all things.

All the typical things that people say they enjoy - walks along the beach, candlelit dinners, movies, plays, etc. - I enjoy, too I love to read, am writing a non-fiction book, and am a painter and craftsperson. I enjoy intellectual conversations about art, music, history and science. Photography, geology and paleontology are passions. I have not been able to travel much outside the US, but I have seen a lot of this beautiful country from coast-to-coast and border-to-border. I am a Native Daughter of the Golden West and love the mountains, the high desert and the coast. I have an inflatable canoe, a motorcycle and a great spirit just waiting to begin new adventures.
I fell in love with all things "rock" when I lived in WA State near Mt. Baker and began to notice the geology around this beautiful volcano and wonder how it came to be as it was. As an artist and photographer, I am also struck by the beauty of rocks from the smallest grains of sand to the largest geologic formations. I have more geology books and maps than any other kind of non-fiction book; my favorites being "Rising from the Plains" and others by John McPhee and "The Eternal Trail: A Tracker Looks at Evolution" by Martin Lockley. The non-stop spectacular beauty of Utah, and the Southwest in general, is why I live here, my favorite geologic places being S. Utah and the Colorado Plateau. I would love to go to Iceland, and romantic places like Paris and Rome, but there is so much to see here - and not enough time to see it all - that I haven't done much traveling outside the US, but for Canada, The Bahamas and parts of Mexico along the Border.
Trying to put "me" into a few words is difficult. I am passionate, loving, forgiving and kind. Don't watch TV, I'd rather be reading or creating something. Having a large vocabulary, I feel no need to use "foul" language, or to hear it in conversation. A poorly written profile is a HUGE turn-off.
There is a big, you-sized hole in my life and I miss you. I don't know if we'll meet here, but I hope we meet soon.

The biggest change that has come to fruition in my life is being a Raw Vegan. Other forms of life mean just as much to me as the life of a human being. I don't see myself going back. I'm very secure with myself. Rather than deeming the ego as something that should be rid of, I've made friends with mine and we're getting through life together understanding one another. It's worked pretty well. :)
