Simple, down to earth, fun person with great sense of humor who also enjoys finer things in life. Can be workoholic as the type of job I truly enjoy what I do. Beside challenges at work, I also love to develop and guide others and learn from others At the same time, it does not mean I dont believe in enjoying life. I'm an animal-loving tree-hugger. Though I live in the big city, I need to spend lots of time in nature. I'm into hard core hiking/backpacking, etc. When the weather is agreeable, I love to take off for 12-mile hikes in North Georgia. Plus, I love international travel. My schedule is pretty flexible, allowing me to take frequent vacations. I usually spend a few weeks a year trekking in the Andes or exploring the depths of the Amazon Basin, and I take a few shorter domestic trips each year as well. I consider Ecuador my second home.

In my spare time I play classical piano, do volunteer work for environmental causes and animal rights, read, and work out at the gym a lot. I also love to watch documentaries and keep up with current events and go to the occasional movie or musical event. As far as reading material, I prefer classics (Tolstoy, Nabakov, Vonnegut, D.H. Lawrence come to mind). As far as music, I always enjoy classical chamber music, esoteric South American music, jazz, classic rock and anything with a good beat. (Please note that these lists are not inclusive, but rather a sampling of what comes to my mind first.)

I love words and language; I'm currently writing a book about my adventures in South America. This is taking up lots of my time right now, but it should be finished soon.

Well, I'm laid back and easy going. My 5 year old daughter and I moved to Athens in October of last year. My brother moved here in January of last year. We came from Illinois. My mom and I have been visiting since '96. R.E.M. brought me here in the first place. Now, it's because I love the southern way of living. Everyone is friendly and the scenery is beautiful. Right now I'm working full time, running the front desk (and subbing) at my daughter's school. I'm looking for a job that's a little more exciting! I'm also going to school online for my Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, which I will earn this fall, finally. I'm a photographer and love it. I love taking portraits and nature shots.

Music is a huge part of my life. I have seen Grateful Dead (when Jerry was alive) 15 times. My parents started taking my brothers and I when we were 5/6. I have also seen R.E.M. about 25 times in concert in the U.S. and U.K. Other bands I enjoy are Pearl Jam, Neil Young, Phosphorescent, Vic Chesnutt, and Widespread Panic, among others.

I love being outdoors amongst nature. I like to bike, camp, hike, swim, kayak, go gem mining, cloud watch, and star gaze. I will also stay in and watch movies. I also enjoy going to antique stores and thrift stores.

I became a vegetarian about 10 years ago. And then a vegan about 8/9 years ago. I love all animals and don't think it's right to eat them, as they were here before us, and our bodies were not made to consume them. I should admit though that I do sometimes eat salmon. :\ I believe in homeopathic herbs compared to modern medicine. I try to eat organic foods when possible. I have two cats that my daughter and I adopted from a shelter when we moved here - Princess Sunshine and Figaro. :)
